Band: Pontier Armando Singer: Ferrari Oscar, Sosa Julio Label: EuroRecords
The collaboration between Francini and Pontier ends in 1955.
Armando Pontier, bandoneonist, director and one of more important composer among those which strongly marked the tango, will organizes then his own orchestra.
His first recordings are on 1957 at the Columbia label. This Cd is made from the original bands of the label.
We are then at the top of the career of the orchestra. The majority of the pieces were arranged by Pontier himself,we found here the instrumental versions of great classic: Derecho viejo, El torito and El entrerriano.
One can say that the tango propose by Pontier is powerful, not in the line of Pugliese, but he start them like he attack with much brio, introducing sometimes lyric fly of violins, close to the style of Hector Varela. Some romantic passages come to pose for a few short moments this force of the rhythm.
Two important voices of the tango: Julio Sosa and Oscar Ferrari. Sosa will give again, in the sixties, the taste for the tango to argentinian youth hich had little echo then. He was called El Varon del Tango (the Guy of the Tango) was then placed just behind Gardel. Just or exaggerated he occupies a place of honor in this galaxy. His song is vibrating having an excellent diction.
Ferrari is a singer with a more youthful voice, acuter, finer. He was recently honoured by Gustavo Santaolalla which incorporated him in work homage to alive glories of the tango, in Café de los Maestros.
It is to be noticed the adaptation of the play of the orchestra to the one and the other voice.
A tango of excellence, with a great technical quality and a repertory with tangos of former times, interpreted with arrangements of Armando Pontier.
