Band: Cuarteto Rotterdam The success of a music is measured with its richness, with its development in time and when it touches and implies individuals of other cultures.
If the jazz were not interpreted and developped by other musicians that those of the USA it would not have been so important and rich.
It is similar for the tango. For a long time it overflows the borders of Rio of Plata, more particularly since twenty years.
We see since groups of Japanese, Dutch, Italian, French. musicians...... the list is very long, playing tango.
Initially these musicians were interested in the music of Piazzolla, sometimes only with these style of tango. But little by little they discover the very important musical luggage of the tango. Arolas, Bardi, Pugliese, Di Sarli, Julian Plaza..... start to be in the repertory of these non-Argentinians formations.
We was happy to discover this Quartet comes from Netherlands. The quality of interpretation is amazing us the repertory is intelligent and interesting.
We also touched because they have the tango force, this force which comes from the bottom of the heart and the body and it is necessary to carry what tango is.
There is not one tango amateur or professionals, who didn't said that tango interpretation need to have dirtiness (mugre). It is a way to say that is important that the tango will talk and be feel its essential: the street, the human dialogue, from where it come.
And well, we felt these dirtiness in the work of the Rotterdam Quartet.
The repertory is composed by famous works and rare parts with marvellous arrangements.
The Quartet is composed by: Michael Dolak, bandonion - Susanne Cordula Welsch, violin - Judy Ruks, piano - Frances Dorling, double bass
We let to you discover them and maybe we will share the pleasure of our discovery.
