We count much more male voices than female in the tango.

The reasons are certainly numerous. But the women do not have missed, especially in the '30 and '40. We note today a quite significant number of women in the tango, as singers or musicians.

In these years '30 and '40 one really did not see women to sing in the balls. But they occupied a good place in the cinema, in theaters, then in radio shows.

In this Cd five singers:
Amanda Ledesma who sang in many films. Here with the only recordings she made for the Odeon label. There were four others in 1940 for label RCA Victor.

Mercedes Simone named La Dama del tango and one of the most famous women on the tango history. She recorded six titles for the Odeon label between 1936 and 1942, and are undoubtedlyher best recordings.

Tania that was the wife of Santos Discépolo made a long career. This Cd proposes three of fer songs where she is accompanied by the orchestra directed by the pianist Miguel Nijenshon.

Maria de la Fuente, a great voice of the '40. She produced many very melody songs and several tangos, from where two are published here: En carne propia and Fuimos

Carmen Duval sang with the orchestra directed by Argentino Galvan, one othe more important arrangers on the tango history.
