Piazzolla is the most important musician of Tango of second halfof the twentieth century.
Bandoneonist, director, arranger, type-setter, interpret. It was born in Mar del Plata (Province from Buenos Aires) but itpasses a part of its childhood to New York in a district of Italian immigrants, where his/her father will buy its first bandonion to him.
Of return in Argentina, it starts to play in the Orchestra of Anibal Troilo; and at this point in time it creates the famous arrangement of "Quejas de Bandoneon".
Thereafter, Piazzolla will assemble its own orchestra and will continue to put on foot its formation of contemporary tango. It obtains a purse to study the composition with the pedagogue Nadia Boulanger and share thus for Paris.
Of return in Buenos Aires, Piazzolla starts to compose its own works. It creates its Octeto Buenos Aires inspired by Octeto de Jazz of Gerry Mulligan with which it will play later.
With revolutionary works like "Adios Nonino", it will modify thedirection of the instrumental tango, and also makes evolve/move the tango song with "Trotted para Loco", on words Horacio Ferrer, poet andfriend with whom he will collaborate ten years.
Piazzolla raises the Tango with the row of the musics worships, the same level as the jazz or the world music. It writes many works for symphony orchestras, films and its quintet.
Piazzolla also recorded with the saxophonist Gerry Mulligan and the vibraphonist Gary Burton.
