The Pugliese Year

centenary of its birth



Large Maestro is always present in the hearts of the ' tangueros' and animates like never the hundreds and hundreds of milongas which are, today, scattered everywhere on our planet.


The author of Yumba, of Negracha, the creator of a particular style and if felt, the incredible pianist, the not less fantastic friend and companion of so much of world, his musicians in particular with whom it divided, hand in the hand, as little did, work and the music.

Generous man; brilliant artist. Fighter of noble causes. Enemy of the injustice and poverty.

To celebrate a man, it is to remember him, to thank it for the fact that it bequeathed us. Fêter Pugliese is also a meeting with the tango, one moment to offer our thought to Maestro and to fly over the history of this classical music, of this splendid culture of Rio of Plata.

We cannot celebrate, us to remember Pugliese without the Tango coming with. Pugliese and the Tango is not forcing of synonimes. Each one has its own dimension, its own personality. But between them there was a dialogue trés in vain and major, which enables us with all to be delighted us by the splendid result.

Let us quote the words of Fernando D' Addario at the time of this birthday: "Pugliese, with the délà of the anecdotes, was an artist who, on scene and outwards, achieved a good work, in a country which was badly."

Maestro Pugliese, in his work of musician and leader, had same control as in his position with respect to the company. He divided with his musicians, in a co-operative way, the profits of the orchestra. This control is also reflected in the work of the musicians: they composed, arrangaient. The dialogue was permanent. The members of the Orchestra of Pugliese knew that it will sound well if all work in team. T-they had reason? The result even speaks about him!

Still some words of Fernando D' Addario: "Pugliese was conscious that the tango was an object animated by the social and cultural transformations of each time (...). It included/understood the deep social implications of the ball, and put its technical resources of avant-garde at this idea: it is necessary at the same time to be a revolutionist and popular "
