Cumparsita and Carlos Gardel



In the years 1920, the Tango is already popular and one sees appearing successfully the first typical orchestras.

In 1916 is presented in Montevideo Cumparsita of the Uruguyan Gerardo Matos Rodriguez, who becomes the most popular tango and emblématique.

At the same time, Carlos Gardel records Mi noche sad music of Samuel Castriota and words of Pascual Contursi. This topic is at the origin of the tango cancion (tango song).

Gardel then becomes the prototype even of the singer of tango. After its tragic death, June 24, 1935 in an air crash in Medellin, Colombia, its name is high with the row of myth.
Gardel built its career and its legend with nearly 900 recorded works. It turned in several films to the USA and to France. We can compare the devotion that its person causes, still today, with that of Rodolfo Valentino.
