Nora Sarmoria is an unclassifiable artist who combines her pianist talent with that of composer, multi-instrumentalist (percussion, accordion and berimbau). Her music does not accept market labels.
She proposes music of folkloric roots, notably advanced in their rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conceptions. Nora Sarmoria claims the absolute creative freedom and the fact of being faithful to herself as an artist.
Nora Sarmoria was born on July 22nd, 1968 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She studied jazz piano with Edgardo Beilín, composition at the Argentine Catholic University and classical piano at the Municipal Conservatory of Buenos Aires.
Since 1991, she has taught at the Popular School of Music of the SADEM and at the Municipal Conservatory of Moron.
She participated in tours and recorded in different projects. She also presented her work as a composer in Buenos Aires and also inside the country. Nora also won
(1992) and the Folkloric Festival of Cosquín (1992).
The Aarhus International Jazz Festival of Denmark takes place in July, 1997 and many well known artists like Mike Stern, Lee Ritenour, Michel Petrucciani, Thelonious Monk Jr. participated.
